Fasting or Weight-Loss Jabs? Why You Might Want Both

Levitas Vitality · Weight & Metabolism

One helps you eat less. The other helps your body use what it’s already carrying. Put simply — they’re not rivals. They’re a team.

Weight-loss jabs have changed how we talk about food and weight — and for good reason. For many people, they are the first thing that has ever turned down the constant urge to eat.

But here’s the honest truth. A weight-loss jab and fasting are not the same tool. They do different jobs. Once you see that difference clearly, you can use either one far more wisely.

Fasting asks your body to use the fuel it’s already carrying. A weight-loss jab helps you want less new food.

Two tools, two different jobs Fasting Uses your own natural hormones Burns your stored fat for fuel Lowers insulin, your storage hormone Switches on cell “spring cleaning” Helps cells renew and repair Trains your body to switch fuels Needs a change in habits Weight-Loss Jabs Copies a natural gut hormone Turns down hunger and cravings Helps you feel full sooner Steadies your blood sugar Quietens constant “food noise” Makes eating less feel easier Works through medication
Both help your health — but they get there in very different ways.

The easiest way to picture it

Think of your body like a house with a kitchen.

The jab says “Stop buying so many groceries.” You eat less. Fasting says “Use what’s already in the cupboards.” You burn stored fat. Repair says “Clear out what’s old. Tidy up.” Your cells renew.
Buy less, use what you have, then clean the cupboards.

So a jab mainly helps you eat less. Fasting helps your body get more out of what it has already stored. One controls what comes in; the other makes better use of what’s already there.

That matters, because hunger and repair are two separate problems. A jab quietens hunger — but on its own it doesn’t teach your body to reach for its fat stores or clear out worn-out parts inside your cells. Fasting does that. Fix only the hunger side, and you’ve solved half the puzzle.

Can you use both together?

Yes — with the right person and a proper plan. This is where longevity medicine is heading. At Levitas, we seamlessly combine medical weight-loss jabs with structured autophagy fasting schedules across our London, Surrey, and Guildford clinics.

1 Turn down hunger The jab calms cravings and constant hunger 2 Teach the switch Fasting, strength work, sleep and protein 3 Deep repair Cells clean house, renew and burn fat
Quieten the hunger, relearn the switch, then let the body repair.

Step 1 — Turn down the hunger

For people carrying a lot of extra weight, or living with PCOS, early diabetes or non-stop cravings, a jab can calm hunger and help you feel full sooner. That makes real change possible — many say it’s the first time they’ve ever felt in control around food.

Step 2 — Teach your body to switch

Once eating settles down, we add things like eating within a set window, an overnight fast, strength training, better sleep and enough protein. This is where your body relearns how to move smoothly between burning food and burning fat.

Step 3 — Let the body repair

When the time is right, longer supervised fasts encourage your cells to clear out old parts, burn fat and calm inflammation. Now the goal shifts from losing weight to genuine cell health.

One important word of caution

Jabs can dial hunger right down. Too far, and people stop eating enough protein, lose muscle and miss key nutrients. That’s why everyone on our programmes is guided to prioritise protein, do strength work and protect their sleep. The aim is to lose fat — not weight at any cost.

For some people, a carefully judged low dose can take the edge off hunger without switching appetite off completely. The evidence for long-term low-dose use is still limited, and it’s an off-label approach where we use it.

This is why we personalise the dose for every patient — to avoid using more than you need, to keep side effects to a minimum, and to monitor you closely along the way. Our aim isn’t to keep you on medication indefinitely. It’s to help your body recalibrate and find its own balance, so that in time you can maintain your results without it.

The direction of travel Start Over time Goal Your own balance Medication dose Medication comes down Your balance builds up
The aim: as your body recalibrates, the medication can gradually step back.

The Levitas way

Each part plays one clear role. Together, they achieve far more than any single tool on its own.

Five parts, working together The jab helps you eat less Fasting helps the body repair more Exercise keeps your muscle Protein rebuilds your body Sleep lets you recover
No single thing does it all. The results come from the combination.

Put them together and you get a body that switches fuels easily, holds on to its muscle and ages more gracefully. That’s the real prize — not a number on the scale, but a body that works better for longer.

The goal: back in balance Energy in Energy used Recalibrated — and holding steady, without medication.
The end point isn’t a lifetime on medication. It’s a body that keeps its own balance.
